You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. John 8:44-45

Last week we looked at the fact that Yeshua (Jesus) called Satan a liar and the father of lies. A father has children. Who are his children? They are lying spirits who do the bidding of our enemy. Their purpose is to serve Satan and his desires but being spirits they must work through people. So, they must convince people to believe Satan’s lies so they can manifest their evil through the words and actions of people.

So, who are these lying and unclean spirits? Well, remember we discussed that for every truth (God’s word) there is a lie. His word says that He created sex beautiful for marriage. Anything other than, or outside of that is a lie. His word says that He made us wonderful and as masterpieces. To say otherwise is to speak a lie. His word says He created us male and female with purpose. To claim anything else is a lie. His word says He is with us always and that we are forgiven when we call on the name of His Son. The idea that you are alone or that you are not worthy of forgiveness is a lie. God says that we are all the same in His eyes. To see others as inferior or even superior to self or others is to operate in a lie. God said we are to treat others as more honorable that self. To gossip or slander or even ignore or abuse another is to be operating in a lie. Are you starting to see where lies may have authority in your life?

Over the course of time in this blog we will address specific lying spirits and how they may manifest in our lives. But for now we will simply name a few lying spirits (this is by no means the entire list):

Low self-esteem, Self-hatred, Self-rejection, Depression, Fear (includes anxiety, worry, and stress), Poverty (so much more than just finances!), Bitterness, Anger, Hatred, Criticism, Judgment, Gossip, Perversion, Lust, Unforgiveness, Resentment (grudges),Victimhood, Isolation, Envy, Rebellion, Witchcraft (includes superstitions, need to control, manipulation of others), Occultism, Illness, Addiction (idolatry), Chaos, Foolishness, etc… The list goes on. As I said above, for every truth there is a lie. For everything God has told us, Satan would work to convince us of something false.

So, when we hear a thought in our minds, (as with all information we receive) we need to measure it against the standard of truth. If it does not measure up to what God has told us, it is a lie and is not to remain in the mind. Mindfully note the fact it is a lie, remind yourself of the truth, and choose to dismiss that lie and lying spirit as quickly as you can! Do not allow it to remain or to become a part of your thinking. Choose to hunt down the lies you are believing and choose to replace them with truth. Take them captive to the obedience to Yeshua our Messiah so you do not remain captive and in bondage to the lies. Return your mind, body, and spirit to the authority of our God and Savior.

I encouraged you last time to start spending more time in the truth and mindfully making it a permanent part of your brain and life. In 63 days you can have God’s truth (one or several) permanently stored in the non-conscious and physically growing strong and making healthy connections to other neurons within the physical brain. Once this is firmly and mindfully established, the non-conscious will begin using those truths to influence the choices made within the conscious mind. When information comes to your brain, the truth will factor into the consideration of the conscious mind and influence its choices. The consequences will look very different from how you once believed, talked, acted, and even how you related to God, yourself, and others.

This week I hope you will choose to identify a lie you have been believing about yourself, God, and/or others. Then go through the 6 step process we have mentioned earlier to take your thoughts captive and bring them into obedience to Messiah. You will be breaking a stronghold!

Until next time:

For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” Romans 8:7-8
